Children of Morta (Our Preview) is on its way to a Summer 2019 release, after being delayed last year. Now, as the release window approaches, developer Dead Mage and publisher 11 bit studios are offering a free preview demo on Steam that seems to be very meaty, as a 1.3 GB download, considering this is a pixel art ARPG. Our preview was highly positive, and the game promises to be a combination of tight combat gameplay and a wonderful narrative set in a unique fantasy world.
The free preview demo will be available starting today, June 19 until June 22. During this limited 72-hour period, players will be able to experience this highly-anticipated, story-driven action-RPG. Concurrently with the free preview, pre-order sales are also starting on Steam with a 10% discount as well as access to the soundtrack at release. Executive Producer at 11 bit studios Marek Ziemak commented on the preview demo:
We’re excited to give the community a taste of Children of Morta. We’re confident about the game’s development and are certain that, once people try it during the free weekend, they’ll be hooked. Even though it’s still in development, it already looks fantastic and is a title we’re proud of. With the additional time until launch for polish, we’re confident that this is going to leave an impact on everyone that gives it a shot.In Children of Morta, you will join an extraordinary family as they battle a mysterious and deadly corruption that threatens to engulf their homeland. As the guardians of Mount Morta, they must stand firm against an ancient evil or lose all they hold dear. The preview demo will allow players to uncover the first chapter of the story and be introduced to two of the family members, the father John, and his eldest daughter Linda. The demo also covers the introduction with an insight into the gameplay and allows players to take on the first boss of the game.
The digital version of Children of Morta will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch for $21.99. The retail edition from Merge Games will be released on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 (in Europe and Australia) alongside the digital release. You can follow the game on Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook for more information. You can also check out the official website.
