Today Capcom announced its financial results for the full fiscal year that started on April 1, 2022, and ended on March 31, 2023.

Net sales were 125,930 million yen (up 14.4 % year-on-year) and operating income was 50,812 million yen (up 18.4 % year-on-year). Both figures were the highest in the company's history, and it's the sixth consecutive year that Capcom announces record-high profits.

The company sold 41.7 million video game units, which marks another year-on-year increase. This was achieved thanks to the solid performance of new games including Resident Evil 4 and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak and digital sales of games released in the previous fiscal years.

We also get the forecast for the current fiscal year (between April 2023 and March 2024). Capcom expects 140,000 million yen in net sakes and 56,000 million yen in operating income, which would mark further growth for the company. The aim is to sell 45 million units of video games, but the company actually has set a long-term goal to sell 100 million units every year.

Speaking of the Digital Content business (which includes video games) specifically, sales were 98,158 million yen and operating income was 53,504 million yen, both significantly up year-on-year. Capcom expects further growth in the current fiscal year with sales forecasted at 106,300 million yen and operating income at 58,900 million yen.

Capcom Sales

Capcom has started extensively leveraging the PC platform, while high-quality games have become high-margin long-term sellers on the digital marketplace, as you can see in the table below, with sales of big games broken down by year.

Interestingly, we earn that Resident Evil 4 has shipped 3.7 million units as of March 31, while Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is now at 5.5 million. Resident Evil Village has passed 7.9 million units, and Monster Hunter Rise is at 12.7 million units.
