Studios Infinity Ward and Raven Software alongside publisher Activision released a free-to-play battle royale extension of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, titled Warzone. Recently, the mode celebrated being a battlefield for over 50 million players.
The title debuted on the 10th of March, just a month ago, and it rapidly rose to the top of the streaming charts with its fast-paced gameplay, snappy gun fights, and unique take on the genre. Within just ten days of its servers going live, the studio reported over 30 million downloads, and now a couple of weeks later, we are at almost double the number.
Celebrating crossing the milesone with a unique asset, and the fans chimed in with their excitement towards the future of the new mode. What sets Warzone apart from regular battle royale titles is its unique Cash system, letting players trade-in whatever amount of cash they loot for better equipment, gear, gun attachments, kill streaks, and much more.
Currently, Warzone offers two main gameplay modes for players to dive into, Blood Money and Battle Royale. However, the community was fast enough to spot what just might be a leak on a future Duos mode on the website. The image was taken down quickly, and Infinity Ward didn't comment on when exactly will we see it added to the title, leaving it right now with just solo and quads. There are tons of potential in the mode, and being set in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare universe opens up lots of opportunities for the developer to experiment.
Over 50 million players.
