A Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update has recently launched and what was added to the game is more than meets the eye. While players have surely been enjoying the new additions, the really cool stuff is buried in the game's data files — and it includes references to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered.
References to the second Modern Warfare game getting a remaster were submitted to the /r/ModernWarfare subreddit. Here's the relevant text from the game's files according to the leaker:
- Purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered and receive the Underwater Demo Team Classic Ghost Bundle
- OR Purchase the Ghost Pack: Oil Rig Bundle to receive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered
It should be noted that this only mentions the campaign — presumably, Activision wouldn't want to risk splitting the growing Call of Duty playerbase any more than it already is.
What Else Was Revealed in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Leak?
A revival of the second Modern Warfare game wasn't the only reveal in this leak — the Reddit submission has a lot more goodies to reveal.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players will be getting Backlot (from the original Modern Warfare) and Village (from Modern Warfare 3) at some point in the future. The former will have the Demon Dogs facing off against the Jackals and the latter will see the SAS taking on the Spetsnaz.
The SKS sniper rifle and Renetti pistol were also among the revealed content in this leak. There's a lot more to see, so go ahead and read about it in the Reddit submission if you want to see more.
We can't say for sure when we'll be able to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, but two things are certain: I'm going to have a hell of a lot of fun defending Burger Town and we'll surely be seeing a resurgence in Ramirez memes.
