What are the most unlikely properties to get board games that you can think of? Mega Man, perhaps? Fortnite? How about Call of Duty? Well, that last one's now officially real, as Activision and Arcane Wonders have announced the imaginatively-named Call of Duty: The Board Game, and it's getting a crowdfunding campaign later this year.

As you might expect from a Call of Duty tabletop game, Arcane Wonders' game will offer you the chance to engage in tactical combat and pursue team-based objectives. Along with the announcement, Arcane Wonders and Activision released a reveal trailer, which shows some swanky concept art and an official logo. You can take a look at the trailer here, although it doesn't contain gameplay or any other juicy tidbits.

In a press release for Call of Duty: The Board Game, Arcane Wonders and Activision promise "intense game modes", an "exciting array of iconic maps", and an "intuitive action system". Given that Call of Duty is a game known for its intense firefights, it's likely the two studios will want to emphasize that element of the games, so expect a fast-paced tabletop experience.

More information regarding Call of Duty: The Board Game is coming in the next few months, so it shouldn't be too long before we learn more about this rather intriguing project. A Kickstarter campaign for the game is due to launch either this fall or late this summer; different sources report different time frames, so expect the campaign to land sometime around late August or early September. Following that campaign, the Call of Duty tabletop game will launch worldwide sometime in 2024.

Call of Duty is just the latest video game franchise to get itself a tabletop adaptation. Disparate franchises like Monster Hunter, GSC Game World's Stalker, and The Last of Us are all entering the tabletop world, and the amount of games based on Warhammer 40k and other tabletop properties show that the affection is mutual. Stay tuned for more news on Call of Duty: The Board Game as we get it.
