Gaming's yearly tradition continues with the announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
Mark your calendars for the return of the most played series in Call of Duty® history, because Black Ops is back! Call of Duty®: Black Ops III will arrive Friday, November 6, to take fans on a journey to the dark, twisted and gritty world of Black Ops with a true next-generation experience that redefines Call of Duty. Published by Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq:ATVI), and developed by award-winning developer Treyarch, Call of Duty: Black Ops III delivers a campaign that can be played as a full single player game or co-op online with up to four players, the deepest, most rewarding multiplayer ever offered in Call of Duty, and, a mind-blowing Call of Duty Zombies experience that, for the first time, features its own XP progression system. Call of Duty: Black Ops III is in development for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft; PlayStation® 4 computer entertainment system; and PCThose who pre-order Black Ops 3 will gain access to the multiplayer beta, to be announced at a later date.
This will be Treyarch's first Call of Duty under the new three year life cycle. The previous Black Ops and Call of Duties prior to Advanced Warfare were under a two year development cycle.
The recent 'Ember' teaser for Black Ops 3's storyline presented a world where biotechnology and morality were coming to a head and the campaign reveal certainly reveals a world that while looking to an extent like Advanced Warfare, is noticeably more advanced and humanity even more connected to technology.
As for multiplayer, Treyarch is teasing a new 'momentum-based, chain moment system', a new specialist system to customize your class of soldier, and an 'all-new' weapon customization system. Of course, being the creators, there will be a Zombies mode, and with it a new XP progression system.
Treyarch is lately being praised as the best of the three developers on Call of Duty. Will Black Ops 3 continue this trend? Time will tell.
