We kind of screwed up by not writing about this deal earlier, but late is better than never. Until about midnight Oct 11, you can pre-order Gears of War 4 from the Microsoft Store for the "Xbox Play Anywhere" copy, which will also score you an extra pre-order bonus of $10 gift code good towards anything on Microsoft Store (e.g., more physical/digital games, accessories etc.).

This is a unique deal in the sense that Microsoft Store is now clearly pushing more digital copies than physical copies as of late - and its no wonder given Gears of War 4 is a title uniquely positioned to further the Windows 10 UWP platform. So while this is the "Xbox One" copy that you can purchase, it is an Xbox Play Anywhere title that will work on Windows 10 machine with the latest anniversary update (and GPU/system requirement that will run Gears of War 4).

If you've been watching early access gameplay videos or the various reviews that have been floating on the web (you can find TechRaptor's provisional review here) - and have made up your mind on playing the game near release - this is probably the last chance on scoring the gift code along with pre-order bonus pack incentives.

For everyone else, since we're just about 50 days away from Black Friday and Cyber Monday season - we'd suggest checking back in on Gears of War 4 where it will undoubtedly be discounted around around 15%-25% off, or even thrown in for "free" in an Xbox bundle or two.

Gears of War 4 Pre-Order Pack:

  • Elite Gear Pack dubbed "Brothers to the End"
  • Includes Old Man Marcus, Tomorrow Anya, Zombie Dom
  • Two gold weapon skins
  • Vintage Del Pack with Vintage Del, emblem, weapon skins, and special bounty
As a final note, the free bonus $10 gift code mentioned above will be emailed to you within 10 days after purchase. Full detail/terms of the freebie can also be found here - note that there's a limit of one $10 promo code per five copies (so if you want more than one promo code and you're buying multiple copies, you'll need to do the transaction separately).
