Star Wars has done rather well for itself in video games, spreading throughout genres like shooters, space combat simulators, and even tournament fighters. The name carries a certain pedigree, producing dozens of quality titles. And Star Wars Kinect. Despite a couple of hiccups along the way, the ratios are still very much in its favor though. This is a franchise which has existed in gaming as long as gaming has existed, going all the way back to the Atari 2600.
So get your galactic credits ready, because GoG, Disney, and LucasArts have dreamt up the aptly named 'Star Wars Day' week-long sale (trust me, it made sense at the time), named after the unofficial Star Wars day of May the 4th. This promotion ends May 7th and features two huge bundles packed with enough titles to keep gamers busy until they can reach a place far, far away.
The Star Wars Day Blaster Bundle has seven games, four of which are fiendishly challenging space combat simulators. These relics of the past exemplify why old games are so loved, offering an experience no modern game will serve. The Saber Bundle has eight games ranging from shooters to RPGs. Both Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2 are there, and the entire Jedi Knight series boasts the closest we may ever get to authentic lightsaber combat outside of smacking your brother on the nose with a cardboard tube.
These bundles are set up so cherry-picking one or two games gets a good price, but buying them all almost doubles the discount. If you've bought some of these games on GoG previously and are trying to get the best prices, there's no problem. GoG takes owned games into account by striking them off the list to make customers eligible for the maximum discount - an elegant system, for a more civilized age.
Also of note is the first ever digital release of Rebel Assault 1 & 2, a pair of cinematic rail shooters from back when FMV games were all the rage.
