Developer Le Cartel as well as publisher Devolver Digital have announced that their four-player beat 'em up game, Mother Russia Bleeds will be getting released on September 5th for PC, Mac, and Linux. Both the normal version of the game as well as Mother Russia Bleeds: Dealer Edition, which comes with the soundtrack and a second copy of the game to gift or sell, are available now for pre‐order with a 10% discount.
Mother Russia Bleeds is described as being an "ultra‐violent co‐op brawler overflowing with an unmistakable style and unforgettably brutal action for up to four players at once." The game is set in an alternate U.S.S.R, where a desperate crew of imprisoned street fighters must overcome an "oppressive criminal authority and forced drug addictions through any means necessary." Apart from a story mode campaign, the game also features a "savage" Survival Mode.
In Survival mode, the player will face off against waves of progressively harder enemies in eight different environments. You'll be able to grab weapons that your enemies drop and harness the "power of chemistry" to increase your "Berserker Rage" and increase the damage output of your character.
Post-launch, the devs will work on releasing a Versus mode where you can challenge your friends, and a Boss Rush mode "that you are not prepared for in any meaningful way." Presumably this will be like Survival Mode with Bosses, but no word on that as of yet.
Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker had the following, beautifully-worded statement about the upcoming game:
“Mother Russia Bleeds has everything the kids love these days like beating someone to death with a toilet during a prison riot and injecting drugs into your neck in order to punch off a gangster’s head.”
Apart from the aforementioned PC, Mac and Linux releases, the developers have also announced a PlayStation 4 version sometime later this year with no actual, specific date.
