Chiki-Chiki Boxy Racers launches August 30 on Switch for $9.99. The game is being published by UNITES, Sony Music Entertainment's Japan-based publishing label.
Chiki-Chiki Boxy Racers allows up to eight players to race locally or online on the game's 15 boxy and stylized tracks. The game can also be played solo, if you wish, against AI opponents or in the practice mode. Race in either traditional slot car tracks or one of four competitive battle modes. Collect the most amount of gold in Coins, or destroy the greatest number of boxes in Smash. Race to cover the arena with your color in Paint or play Goal, a game of soccer on wheels.
Chiki-Chiki Boxy Racers is intended to be a fast-paced party through a "charming wonderland of environments with cute, toybox-inspired cars. Joyful pop tunes and a bright voxel aesthetic". The game will have a variety of cars for players to unlock, and plenty of customization to dig into.
“Chiki-Chiki Boxy Racers makes you feel like a little kid all over again,” said John Davis. “From the moment you hit start, it just has that playful wonder to it that takes you back to scooting race cars across the carpet as a kid. This time, though, it’s gathered around the TV with friends.”
