If you're like me, you may have waited to pick up Borderlands 3. Maybe you wanted to wait for them to iron out the bugs or maybe you aren't all that fond of the Epic Games Store. That patience has paid off: the Borderlands 3 Steam pre-order has a crazy good discount in the last few days before it launches on the platform.
Those of you who haven't been following the game might not know that Borderlands 3 launched as an Epic Games Store exclusive. This caused a measure of controversy in some areas for various reasons. In any case, the exclusivity period is coming to an end, and Borderlands 3 will soon be launched on Steam.
It's not unreasonable to expect some kind of launch-week discount, but Gearbox has really gone above and beyond with the kind of savings they're offering. Believe it or not, you can get your Borderlands 3 Steam pre-order for a massive 50% off its retail price. That's not bad for a game that came out six months ago.
When Can I Play My Borderlands 3 Steam Pre-Order?
You might be wondering when you'll actually be able to play your pre-order. Well, Gearbox has an FAQ about the upcoming Steam release of the game.
Pre-loading should be beginning sometime in the late afternoon to early evening in Eastern time. Once you're all set, you'll be able to start playing the game on March 13, 2020, as early as 10:00 AM Eastern (barring any problems, of course).
If you have friends with the Epic Games Store version, worry not — you can play with them. Heck, you can even transfer over your save file if you also have the Epic Games Store version! There is one downside, though — the in-game mail system won't be working between Steam and the Epic Games Store at first.
If you've been waiting to get your hands on this game, you can go ahead and make your Borderlands 3 Steam pre-order at the price of $29.99 or your regional equivalent — an absolutely batty 50% discount.
