Borderlands 3 is set to release Mayhem 2.0 in a April 23 update to give players a chance to grab some powerful Legendary loot.

Mayhem Mode is for players that have beaten Borderlands 3, giving them the option to raise the game's difficulty and increasing the experience points that the player will receive upon killing enemies and the quality of loot that will drop. The Mayhem 2.0 version will give players a bunch of improvements that are designed to give players a better overall experience.

For instance, players will no longer have to visit the pedestal on Sanctuary III to activate Mayhem Mode. Instead, it will be accessible via a new tab on the player's ECHO Device menu, making it easily found at any time. However, in multiplayer games the Mayhem level will be determined by the host, so when a player matchmakes they will be matched with someone at a similar Mayhem level whenever possible, so there might be a few games that are really easy or really hard.

25 new modifiers will be added to the game, with each of them rated as Easy, Medium, Hard, or Very Hard. They are mostly common sense, with Easy modifiers really helpful to the player, and Medium or higher making it a more challenging experience. These modifiers are selected at random, but they are also always the same for each Mayhem level, so that's nice at least.

Basically, for each level of Mayhem that the player goes through, the items dropped will become better and more powerful. Risk versus reward and all that.
