Bluepoint Remake

To really give you a post-Halloween spook, Bluepoint Games has sent out a mysterious tweet that seems to imply they're remaking... well, basically everything.

To start off, here's the full tweet:

So calm this spooky night. A symphony of rumors - not one, but two - return from shadow. A resistance to dart home as black monsters escape twisted hills to wander lands and syphon souls. Filter your candy collections, soft from solid, and be eco-friendly. Have a metal Halloween.

So there's quite a bit here, and we're going to break it down sentence by sentence.

So calm this spooky night.

This is probably the only sentence I'm not really getting anything from. This is the calm before the storm.

A symphony of rumors - not one, but two - return from shadow.

Oh man. So saying there's a "symphony" of rumors is certainly a weird word choice. It's possible it could be a reference to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, especially since Konami is currently working on a mobile Castlevania game. Also interesting "not one, but two", which implies that Bluepoint is currently working on two games instead of one. "return from the shadow" basically confirms they're both remakes.

A resistance to dart home as black monsters escape twisted hills to wander lands and syphon souls.

Oh god, there's so much here. Let's start with "A resistance to dart home." Resistance is, once again, a really weird word choice and possibly a reference to the Resistance series of first-person shooters. Likewise, "dart" is also a strange word choice when "run" could have worked just as well. Dart is the main character of The Legend of Dragoon, a game Sony has apparently been considering remaking in the past anyway. The next part is "black monsters escape twisted hills." Black Monster, especially with Dart before it, is possibly another The Legend of Dragoon reference, as the Black Monster is one of the game's main antagonists. "Twisted hills" doesn't appear to reference any one thing, but I've seen people mention bost Twisted Metal and Silent Hill with that one.

Finally, we end this with "wander lands and syphon souls." The "wander lands" part, when combined with the aforementioned black monster, sort of reminds me of Ico, but that's a stretch at best. However, it's really "syphon souls" that stands out. Simply, that's not how you spell that word. It's spelt "siphon." The only place that changes the i for a y is Sony's spy video game Syphon Filter, which notably the recently released Days Gone had some references for tucked away inside of it.

Filter your candy collections, soft from solid, and be eco-friendly.

Another one that's a bit of a doozy. "Filter your candy collections" is, once again, a really weird word choice that ties back into Syphon Filter from before. "Soft from solid" seems like a reference to Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid. Putting both of these spy franchises next to each other is rather entertaining.

Have a metal Halloween.

The last line once again feels like a Metal Gear Solid reference, especially when "solid" was in the line before it.

Whatever Bluepoint Games is remaking, I'm sure we'll find out eventually, and we'll tell you all about it. If I was a betting man, I'd say The Legend of Dragoon and Syphon Filter have the two highest chances though. Or someone at Bluepoint is having way too much fun.

What game do you think Bluepoint is working on? Will it be one of the games mentioned here? Think they're just messing with everyone? Let us know in the comments below.
