Today Bandai Namco hosted a livestream ahead of the network test that will soon kick off for its upcoming MMORPG Blue Protocol
While providing information specific to the network test, the livestream also showcased a brand-new area named Montenoor Gorge.
In the video below you can take a look at the area during nighttime at the 36:17 mark and during daytime later at the 1:11:16 mark. It's a rocky valley with a massive stone archway dominating the view.
For now, the network test is limited to Japan, and while some will certainly be able to get past this limitation, there is no formal limit to streaming footage, so we're likely gonna see a lot of gameplay when it starts on March 31. The only thing the developers have asked not to share is the anime opening.
If you're unfamiliar with Blue Protocol, it's a free-to-play anime-style MMORPG with a business model focusing on battle passes and paid cosmetics. It features an extremely deep character customization suite designed to let players basically create their ideal anime-style character, on top of fast action combat and interesting character progression and storytelling.
It’s developed by a team named Project Blue Sky, which is a joint initiative of Bandai Namco Online and Bandai Namco Studios, and it was announced all the way back in 2019. Two beta tests have already been hosted for the Japanese audience, which has received the gameplay quite well. The western release was announced in December 2022 during The Game Awards and is coming in the second half of 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The western release will be published by Amazon Games, which has been pretty quiet since the announcement. We know that it's planning a beta for the global release of the game, but we don't yet know when it'll come.
While we wait anyone who doesn't have access to the network test can already enjoy the impressive character creation and benchmark software,
