We now have a concrete Blood Bowl 3 release date, but there's also some bad news if you're a fan of the Warhammer fantasy sports franchise. The game is landing on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox next year, so you won't be getting your hands on it in 2022, unfortunately.
Blood Bowl is a pretty big name in the world of tabletop gaming, and two digital versions of the game have already been released. Now, Blood Bowl 3 is finally set to launch across current-gen platforms (excluding Nintendo Switch), but it looks like it won't be meeting its original target of a 2022 release, which its Steam page still lists as its launch window.
When it does arrive, Blood Bowl will bring the series' usual combination of fantasy football and staggering violence to modern platforms. As with the other games, you'll coach and manage a team of Warhammer creatures including orcs, dwarves, and humans, building strategies for them and telling them what to do during the course of games.
The third installment in the Blood Bowl series will bring a host of new features, including dedicated passing stats, more playing fields with unique rules, and cheerleaders. I'm not saying I want to see Space Marine cheerleaders take to the field, but I'm not saying I don't either.
When it launches, Blood Bowl 3 will boast twelve playable factions, including four that are making their debut in the video game series. Every faction has unique characteristics, so it'll take a while to get to grips with all of them. Naturally, you'll be able to enjoy Blood Bowl 3 alone or with others, too. It sounds like if you loved the first two games, you'll be into this one as well.
Blood Bowl 3 lands on PC, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox platforms on February 23rd. You can wishlist it right now on Steam if you like. In the meantime, there's still time to order the Secret Lair x Blood Bowl Magic: The Gathering collab, which is part of the October Superdrop ending in 11 days' time. If you're a Magic fan, or even if you just like to look at some pretty Blood Bowl art, you might want to get in on that.
