Private Division must really like the works of Bloober Team, because the publisher has signed an agreement to publish a new survival horror IP being worked on over at the Layers of Fear and The Medium studio. Bloober is currently working on the Silent Hill 2 remake as well, which probably helped. After all, if Bloober is trusted with the keys to one of the most beloved horror titles ever, that's a very strong vote of confidence for the developer.
This was announced alongside Private Division's 5th anniversary, and the label is celebrating by unveiling the Private Division Development Fund. The Fund will "support smaller independent development teams with project financing and mentorship opportunities to enable them to self-publish their ambitious titles," which is an interesting way of going about things. These developers include studios like Lost Native and Mutazione developer Die Gute Fabrik.
Piotr Babieno, Chief Executive Officer of Bloober Team, had this to say about the publishing partnership:
Our next project is an exciting new survival-horror game, which will help us become a leader in the horror industry at large. I am grateful for this cooperation with Private Division. Their expertise is extensive, and their people are also very approachable. We don't perceive them in a typical 'publisher-developer' relationship; they’re more like a friend who shows us support or keeps us in line when we need it most.
As for Bloober Team, they're known for the Layers of Fear series, The Medium, Observer, and now the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake as well. Bloober has worked on games outside the horror genre as well, but they're nowhere near as well-known. For some, the fact that Bloober is working on a Silent Hill 2 remake is more scary than the games the studio has released so far, but we'll have to see how it all turns out.
