Overwatch, Blizzard Entertainment's team-based arena shooter, will take down the ongoing closed beta for their game on December 10. The developer behind other popular games like World of WarcraftStarcraft 2 and Heroes of the Storm will be using this break to take a look at all the player feedback they've gathered over the course of the beta.

In a post on the official battle.net website, the developer states that they will be assessing data gathered from over 900,000 matches played in the beta so far, and says that they will be looking into bug reports sent in by players. During this time, they will also be taking a look at suggestions made by players.

The developer stresses that this break is only temporary and that invited players will once again be able to play the game at some point in mid to late January. Players will still be able to access to Overwatch closed beta forums during the break. Hopeful new players will have to wait for their invite until the servers come back online.

Overwatch was announced at Blizzcon last year, and has since already garnered quite a following, with people praising the game's aesthetic and its fast-paced gameplay. The game also found itself in the midst of some controversy over the game being buy-to-play as opposed to free-to-play, with people weary of possible microtransactions on top of the entry price. Overwatch is set to release in spring of next year on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Our very own Stuart Burns had a chance to play the game during the last big beta weekend. You can check out his thoughts here

Quick Take

I can't wait to get my hands on this game. The presentation looks pretty damn fantastic, and because I usually like Blizzard's approach to game design I will be surprised if I don't enjoy this game. I hope they take all the player feedback to heart and make this a game worth picking up.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
