Starship Troopers - Terran Command bomb run

Do you or your friends have an uncharacteriscally strong distaste for bugs? You'll soon be able to blow thousands of them to pieces in the newly-announced Starship Troopers - Terran Command real-time strategy game developed by The Aristocrafts and published by Slitherine.

A picture's worth a thousand words, so an announcement trailer has got to be valued at about a million — go ahead and check it out to get a feel for the game!

As you can see from the above Announcement Trailer, Starship Troopers - Terran Command has pretty much everything a fan of the original movies would want (and almost nothing a fan of the original book would recognize). Hundreds of troops charge across a battlefield, eschewing every sensible piece of military startegy as they fire at terrifying alien bugs with fully-automatic weapons and man-portable nuke launchers. Glorious.

The game's campaign will have players trying to take control of a planet that's being overrun by the bugs, utilizing all of the tools in the Mobile Infantry and Fleet's respective arsenals. The whole Port Joe Smith situation where everyone was horribly mangled by alien bugs isn't the most ideal situation, so it will be up to you to stop something similar from happening.

While you might have some highly-trained troops, the bugs have numbers on their side. That's why you'll have to deploy your assets very carefully, guarding strategic chokepoints and catching the bugs up in crossfires and killzones, lest they overrun your position.

Although the first movie only really showed a handful of troop types and vehicles, subsequent games had expanded greatly on the Mobile Infantry arsenal. There will be dozens of different unit types for players to use as they attempt to secure a planet from this alien menace.

This announcement has been pretty robust, also including a short gameplay trailer that shows a bit of combat in motion.

As you can see from the above trailer, there's some nice combined arms tactics in action. Mobile Infantry soliders are making use of their rifles, flamethrowers, and mech suits as the bugs swarm all over a faciility their defending. Just like the movie, the bugs can be seen climbing up and over walls, making one question why they bothered building them in the first place. And of course, these guys have the sense to send in fighters for a bombing run when they're about to be overrun.

You'll be able to get your hands on Starship Troopers - Terran Command when it releases sometime in 2020. In the meantime, you can add the game to your wishlist on Steam.
