If you've been hoping for some Blasphemous free DLC, you're in for a treat. Wounds of Eventide is coming this December, adding new bosses, items, and areas to explore. Developer The Game Kitchen has also announced a Blasphemous sequel coming in 2023.

What do we know about this Blasphemous free DLC?

You can check out the animated trailer for the DLC right here. It shows the Penitent One battling a number of new enemies in heavily stylized animation; there's no gameplay in the trailer, but you can get a sense of what the DLC will add to Blasphemous' aesthetic and experience from what's depicted here. The Game Kitchen is promising the ability to "carve out a new fate" for the Penitent One and the land of Cvstodia. According to the devs, this is the "concluding chapter" of Blasphemous, and it will give you the chance to view the game's "true ending".

The animation in the new Blasphemous Wounds of Eventide DLC trailer sure is pretty.

What do we know about the Blasphemous sequel?

In addition to the announcement of the Blasphemous free DLC, The Game Kitchen also revealed that a sequel is in the works. At present, we don't have too much information about it. There's a very short teaser at the end of the Wounds of Eventide trailer that simply displays a "II" logo and a date of 2023. Presumably, this means the game will simply be called Blasphemous II. At the moment, that's all we know about the Blasphemous sequel. In fairness, the game isn't arriving until 2023, so it's still pretty early days. The Game Kitchen does say it'll be a "direct followup" to Blasphemous.

It's a lovely logo, but it doesn't tell us too much about the newly-announced Blasphemous sequel.

We'll likely learn more about a potential Blasphemous sequel release date, as well as any more information the devs want to share, in the coming weeks and months. Until then, you can look forward to the Wounds of Eventide DLC, which launches on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on December 9th. Blasphemous is also playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility.
