Black Myth: Wukong sales have apparently reached a staggering 18 million, and there's also a DLC expansion in the works for the game, according to a new report.
Per Bloomberg, the game managed to reach 18 million sales "in two weeks", although it's not clear whether that's a firm milestone or whether the two or three extra days since Wukong's release count towards that tally.
Bloomberg's piece takes the form of an interview with investor Daniel Wu, who's one of Wukong developer GameScience's biggest investors (along with his company Hero Games). It's Wu that confirms the existence of an expansion, although he doesn't say what it'll be or when it'll launch.

Given that Wukong hit ten million sales just three days after its launch, that means it's picked up another eight million in the intervening weeks, which constitutes a pretty steady performance. No wonder it helped Steam to cross a user milestone a week or so after its release.
The Bloomberg article also states that Black Myth: Wukong's budget was around $70 million, a large chunk of which Wu himself apparently contributed. By way of comparison, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, a game that had sold around 10 million copies at last count, reportedly cost a staggering $300 million to make.
Bloomberg also brings up the infamous streaming guidelines outlined by Hero Games that requested streamers refrain from discussing "feminist propaganda", as well as other topics like COVID-19, when streaming Black Myth: Wukong. Wu "declined to comment on the matter", according to Bloomberg.
Black Myth: Wukong is available to play right now on PC and PlayStation 5. An Xbox Series X|S version of the game was reportedly also in the works, but the status of that version has been called into question recently; an IGN report says that the delay is due to an "exclusivity deal with Sony".
Microsoft's only comment on Black Myth: Wukong's Xbox delay is that it isn't due to "Xbox platform limitations that have been raised to us". The plot thickens. Stay tuned for more, and in the meantime, you can read my review of Wukong here to find out why it's so darn good.
