The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ for the Nintendo Switch was delayed to late March, according to a blog post from the developers of the game. This means the game will not be ready in time for the launch of the Switch, as had been previously reported.
The developers wrote the following in their blog post:
For those of you who have pre-ordered already you may have noticed your order shifted date. We were unable to confirm the revised release date until now (due to issues way beyond our control), but can confirm that the Release Date for The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ on Nintendo Switch has been pushed back. It’s still March, but we won’t make 3.3 (insert sad face here). The developers did not, however, explain why the game was delayed, nor did they specify what the "issues way beyond" their control were.
However, the blog post did include some good news. The developers announced a new item that will be included in every launch edition of the game on the Switch.
Two weeks ago, the developers announced that the launch edition will include two limited sticker sheets and a reversible alternate cover. Today, the devs announced that a 20-page instruction booklet will also be included, designed as an homage to 8-bit games with many little details on the game, and some never-before-seen art.
The developers added that this instruction manual will only be included with the launch edition of the game. They will not be including this manual in any future Switch production runs.
