The upcoming Monster Sanctuary free DLC has a release window. It'll take the form of a massive update for the creature-battling platformer that will add a whole new region, as well as new monsters, game modes, skills, and plenty more, and it's launching in just a couple of months.

When is the new Monster Sanctuary free DLC release window?

Per an official Steam announcement, we can expect the new Monster Sanctuary free DLC to launch this June. Developer Moi Rai Games says this is the window it's "aiming" for, and that the release should span across all platforms when it comes. The update will be called Forgotten World, and it'll be a pretty substantial package, bringing an entirely new region to the game in addition to several new monsters to collect and raise. Suffice it to say you should be excited if you're a Monster Sanctuary fan.

Monster Sanctuary is getting a massive free DLC pack that will add a new region and lots more.

When it arrives, Moi Rai says the Forgotten World update's titular new area will be "bigger than any other area in the game". The developer is also promising ten new monsters, with nine of those monsters located in the Forgotten World and the other placed in an earlier area. There will also be three new game modes, all of which can be combined with one another and enjoyed alongside New Game Plus. The level cap will be raised by 2, and there will be lots of new skills to try out, as well as reworked sprites and animations for some of the older creatures. All in all, it's going to be a pretty massive update, so let's hope we hear more about an official release date soon.

What is Monster Sanctuary?

Monster Sanctuary is one of a few indie monster-raising games arriving in the wake of Pokemon's popularity. This one combines Metroidvania-style platforming with creature raising and battling, with a focus on combo strategies and synergies between creatures. Unlike in Pokemon, you battle three at a time, and there are some truly devilish enemies in the game waiting to exploit any weakness your team might have. If you're looking for a more difficult version of Pokemon that incorporates a little movement-based skill as well, then Monster Sanctuary is definitely a game you should check out.

You can grab Monster Sanctuary right now on Steam, and it's also available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Since release, it's received numerous updates, including additional difficulty modes and New Game Plus, among others. Right now, it's available at a discount of 66%, so if you're thinking of picking it up, now would be the time to do it. Between this game and Coromon, if you're currently disillusioned with the state of Pokemon, you've got some seriously decent options in the indie market, so take a chance on this if you want to be the very best.
