Some may think that the Bible isn't fun, but the folks at Bible X obviously disagree, as they're developing a Bible exploration game titled Gate Zero. There certainly seems to be a desire for this kind of game considering just how fast it was fully funded on Kickstarter.
The game, which launched a few days ago on the crowdfunding platform, received over €100,000 in funding in just nine hours. While things naturally slowed down a little afterward, it took the project only 79 hours to be fully funded, reaching the €200,000 goal. It's currently sitting at €207,000 and growing.
The development team is aiming to be "as Biblically and historically accurate as possible" albeit the story is actually rooted in science-fiction. The game starts in the future with the player having to solve the riddle left behind by their late grandmother by traveling back in time to ancient Israel. Solving each riddle unlocks new missions, bringing the protagonist closer to uncovering the secrets of Grandma's mysterious pearl.
Interestingly, Gate Zero features a special "CoPlay" mechanic that lets an additional player connect with the game via a mobile app in order to collaborate and help the main player. If you're curious, you can check out the Kickstarter launch trailer below.
While Gate Zero is officially coming only to PC for now, stretch goals for Xbox and PlayStation ports. That being said, the exact amount for these goals has not been announced, and it's beyond a rather ambitious €800,000. The game certainly appears to have legs, but we'll have to wait and see whether they'll be a million Euro-long legs.
If you want to contribute, you can do so on the official Kickstarter campaign page. At the moment, the shipping window is set for December 2024.
