Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin appeared onstage to showcase Doom Eternal. In the vein of classic Doom games, this entry ramps up the violence and gore to a new level. The trailer features a variety of weapons and foes to contend with. The presenters note that each choice you make, on weapons, on gameplay, and personal style will have a big effect on Doom Eternal. They want each enemy, each fight, to be unique.

As such, the game always has something new to show players, even after hours of play. New enemies and tactics are required as players advance through the blasted hellscape full of familiar faces to pummel and shotgun. Aggressive control of the fight is the only way to succeed in Doom Eternal. While it was initially believed that the game would take place on a demon-infested Earth, Martin let us know that Heaven, Hell and yes, our own green-and-blue globe are the actual battlegrounds. The game will explore areas never before seen in the Doom universe.

Much of the detail was passed off until QuakeCon 2019, which is being renamed DoomCon this year as a tribute to the series and its legacy. A multiplayer mode for Doom Eternal was also announced. Those who want the whole enchilada can preorder the Collector's Edition to receive a Doom Guy hat and really show their stuff. Given that this is Bethesda, we can hope they've learned their lesson regarding preorder swag and that this piece will be worth every penny, bag included.

Fans present for the Bethesda briefing got a chance to play the game following the event. The game will release on November 22, 2019, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
