The Besiege release date has been announced! After several years in Steam Early Access, Spiderling Studios says that their siege engine sandbox game is ready for prime time.

If you've never played Besiege, you're missing out Besiege sets a task in front of players like destroying a castle or defeating an attacking army. This is accomplished through the creation of an entirely-custom siege engine. (You can also download pre-made plans from the Steam Workshop if you're bad at designing these things.)

Utilizing physics-based weaponry, you have to accomplish your goal before your siege engine is destroyed! You can use a mighty trebuchet, an inferior catapult, a deadly helicopter, or pretty much anything else that you can create with the parts at hand!

Now, the devs have finally locked in the Besiege release date: you'll be able to play Version 1.0 of this great game on February 18, 2020.

What New Content is Coming on the Besiege Release Date?

The biggest new release coming in Version 1.0 is the final island for the single-player campaign: Krolmar. Krolmar is a vast desert island with its own unique challenges and secret magics for the player to uncover.

Minecraft Redstone fanatics will also find something to love in the new update: logic blocks are coming. Here are the four new logic blocks that are debuting in this update:

  • Altimeter - Detects altitude and can automatically activate objects.
  • Logic Gate - Defines conditions and executes events, allowing for basic programming.
  • Sensor - Detects objects appearing in front of it and activates an effect accordingly.
  • Timer - Defines a countdown and activates something upon completion.

Besiege players are surely salivating at the new possibilities. Want to make a bomb that explodes at a certain altitude after being dropped? Easy peasy. Leave a deadly timebomb behind and get away before it kills you? That can be done, too! (One might note that my first thoughts immediately went to bombs, and that should tell you everything you need to know about this game.)

This won't be the end of development, either. Spiderling Studios is going to continue pumping out new content for the game! You can read all about everything else arriving on launch day in the Steam Community announcement.

Version 1.0 of Besiege arrives on February 18, 2020; if you don't yet already own it, you can grab it for $9.99 or your regional equivalent on Steam, the Humble Store, and DRM-free on GOG. You don't want to wait — the devs say they're increasing the price after it launches in Version 1.0!
