A little over a month ago, Koei Tecmo and Omega Force announced that they would be making a game for the legendary dark fantasy manga Berserk in the vein of their highly successful series Dynasty Warriors. Now, after much suspicion and rumors, we finally have a confirmed release in the west along with a handful of new details.
Berserk will be following most of the manga's storyline, starting from the Golden Age telling the story of how our antihero Guts lost everything to the Millenium Falcon Arc covering his start of the currently ongoing journey to the mystical utopia of Elfhelm. Currently, there are plenty of characters all across the timeline confirmed playable - from the heavy hitters such as Guts and Griffith to side characters like Judeau and Schierke. While the monstrous apostles Nosferatu Zodd and Grunbeld have been shown off in screenshots, it's unknown if they will be playable or simply left as boss fights. It has also been confirmed that the voice actors from the recent movie trilogy and currently airing anime will be reprising their roles for the game.
While we know Berserk will be launching in Japan on September 21st, the English release date is simply 'fall'. However, it is confirmed that the game will be releasing physically for the Playstation 4, as well as receiving digital releases on the PS Vita and Steam.
Hisashi Koinuma, the president of Koei Tecmo Games, released the following statement on the title,
“We are finally able to unveil our collaboration between Berserk and the Warriors series. In this game, players can experience and immerse themselves into the world of Berserk as the main character Guts, wielding his powerful weapon Dragon Slayer mercilessly slashing enemies in half, and through the massive story beginning with the Golden Age arc. The game content will be enjoyable even to those who don't normally play games, so we hope all fans of Berserk will give this game a go. Become a member of Guts and his group, and experience the exhilaration of the most lethal Warriors game within the intense world of Berserk.”

In case I haven't made it abundantly clear in the past, I'm quite a huge fan of the Berserk series, and every announcement only serves to get me more and more excited. While the blanket date of 'fall' is nice, I am interested to see just how soon we're going to be getting it after the Japanese release.
And of course, playable Wylad or riot.
