A procedural in-game map for Star Dynasties

Have you ever wanted to start your very own Game of Thrones-style family dynasty, but in space? You're in luck. Publisher Iceberg Interactive and developer Pawley Games have announced Star Dynasties, a procedurally-generated strategy game based around family trees and politics.

In Star Dynasties, you must foster the most powerful and influential family in the galaxy. You'll do this by navigating complex interpersonal (and interplanetary) relationships, managing the resources and processes of your empire, and deciding how exactly you want to rule. The game is set centuries after a catastrophe devastates the Earth. Those who survived have organized themselves into a rudimentary feudal society built around what little technology remains. You can check out a developer diary from lead creative Glen Pawley right here:

The devs call Star Dynasties a family management and emergent narrative game with a "light empire management strategy layer". Each run will have a unique procedurally-generated set of families and empires for you to navigate. Like Crusader Kings II, your empire will span multiple generations, each with its own complex web of interpersonal politics to deal with. Pawley Games is promising "hundreds of characters" with realistic emotions and personalities. If the devs can pull this one off, it should be essential for grand strategy fans and Game of Thrones aficionados.

Star Dynasties will launch for PC in early 2021. We don't yet have a more specific release window than that. If you'd like to keep up with the game, you can do so via its official website. It's also got a presence on social media: there's a Twitter page, a Facebook page, and a Discord channel. Finally, you can wishlist the game on Steam. Plenty of ways for you to keep abreast of developments. We'll bring you more as we get it.
