Set in what looks like a steampunk world, Gestalt: Steam & Cinder was shown off at the Guerilla Collective today. The beautiful artstyle and fantastic animations give the game a lot of style and really enhance the bits of actions they showed off.
You play as Alatheia, as she finds herself racing to discover the secrets of Canaan, a huge steampunk city shown off in the trailer. Canaan is the last place human's can call home, so Aletheia and a cast of characters must look at mysteries that are centuries old to discover the city's secrets.
Mastering Gestalt will be all about properly balancing the melee and ranged abilities at Alatheia's disposal as she grows stronger. As seen in the trailer, Gestalt is about precision and timing. Alatheia will have a bunch of upgradeable skills and equipment throughout the game as well.
There will be plenty of story and characters to talk to, with a lot of side quests to engage in. Gestalt promises to be a narrative-driven action platformer, so the story won't just be something in the background. With big choices to make and dialogue options, you'll be deciding many characters' fates throughout the game, and ultimately Alatheia's too.
If you're a Metroid or Castlevania, Gestalt seems like the perfect game for you. Gestalt: Steam & Cinder is being developed is the debut title from Metamorphosis Games. It releases sometime this year for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Swtich.
