Update (April 12, 2022 - 3:45 PM ET) - The Mythforce website has gone live, confirming that this is indeed the next game from Beamdog and will be a first-person roguelite dungeon crawler with an 80's cartoon aesthetic.

Mythforce is a first-person roguelike dungeon crawler with some neat twists like procedurally-generated dungeons. The really cool part, however, is the 80's cartoon aesthetic that's present throughout the game -- check out its official gameplay trailer!

Some details about the game were revealed in an Xplay livestream, but most of the key facts were revealed by the official website before the official announcement. Here's what we know about the classes:

  • Victoria - a tanky knight wielding a sword and shield.
  • Maggie - a mage wielding powerful spells.
  • Hawkins - a hunter specializing in ranged attacks with his bow.
  • Rico - a rogue that focuses on close-range melee damage.

There will also be a fairly strong emphasis on roguelike gameplay with a progression system and randomized elements, ensuring that no two games are alike. Don't think that playing with your friends will make it easier, either -- the game will feature dynamic difficulty that ramps up the challenge if you're playing with your friends.

When is the Mythforce Release Date?

The Mythforce release date will be April 20, 2022, for its Early Access launch. No price has been announced just yet.

It also looks like Mythforce will be an Epic Games Store exclusive to start. A Steam release is likely at some point based on our previously-uncovered info on its unpublished Steam page. For now, you can add the game to your wishlist on the Epic Games Store and check out the game's official website.

Our original story continues below.

It looks like the next game from Beamdog will be Mythforce, a co-op, roguelike dungeon crawler that's coming to PC and appears to feature an 80's Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic.

Beamdog has worked on the Baldur's Gate games and even pitched a remake of KOTOR at one point, but this company has recently been focused on its next, secretive project. Now, we have a pretty solid idea of what we think it might be: Mythforce, a brand-new co-op dungeon crawler.

MythForce Looks Like a Cool 80's Cartoon Throwback from Beamdog

From what we can tell, Mythforce is the name of the game that's slated to premiere on Xplay today at 3:00 PM Eastern according to Beamdog's recent announcement. However, it appears that some information about this game has slipped out a little ahead of this announcement.

As highlighted on RedditGame Informer published a game page for Mythforce a little early. From there, we were able to track down what is probably its SteamDB page and we're off to the races.

Much of the information about this upcoming game is still secret, but we do have some details; for example, here are the user tags that Beamdog has applied to the game.

  • RPG
  • Co-op
  • Rogue-like
  • Dungeon Crawler
  • First-Person
  • Multiplayer
  • Rogue-lite
  • Procedural Generation
  • Action Roguelike

That gives us a pretty solid idea of what we can expect from the game. The Game Informer game page says that it will be in the "Action" genre and supports up to 4 players.

We also may know a bit about the game's classes thanks to a submission from /r/LeaksAndRumors. The four classes will be Alchemist, Knight, Mage, and Rogue. It looks like each class will have a passive skill, utility skill, and ultimate skill, too.

There's still a lot we don't yet know about this game, unfortunately. We'll update this article once the official announcement goes live. In the meantime, you can keep an eye on the official Mythforce website.
