Dice announced today Paramount Television and Anonymous Content (a production and management company) optioned the rights for a TV series based in the Battlefield universe. Ashley Zalta and 2016 Academy Award winner Michael Sugar will serve as the project's executive producers. Details are scarce at the moment, and Dice did not mention a specific game or time period the show would be set in. No network is currently attached to the project.

Amy Powell, President at Paramount TV, is excited for the project, calling it 'smart content.'

“Paramount TV actively seeks smart content from all sectors that will resonate with audiences and translate to compelling programming.” said Powell. “EA’s Battlefield has an incredibly dynamic narrative, coupled with a loyal fan base, which will allow us to bring this exciting and unique property to the small screen. We look forward to working with EA and Anonymous Content and thank Michael Sugar for his tenacity in bringing us this exciting project.”

Patrick Söderlund, Executive Vice President of EA, also shares enthusiasm for the project, hoping to show the series in a new way to fans.

“Battlefield is one of the most loved properties among our players,” said Söderlund. “We are thrilled that Anonymous Content and Paramount TV will look to introduce fans to Battlefield through a new medium.”

Anonymous Content previously produced True Detective. Paramount TV is no stranger to flipping IP's into shows, previously holding plans to create a "Beverly Hills Cop" show as well as a Nickelodeon show based on "School of Rock."

Patrick O’Brien, Vice President of EA Entertainment added his confidence in the project, saying Sugar's track record speaks for itself. “Combined with his passion for Battlefield,' says O'Brien, "we cannot imagine a better team than Anonymous Content and Paramount for this project.”
