Battlefield Insider subscriber early access invite codes for the Battlefield 1 Open Beta flew into inboxes this morning - a day ahead of the official launch date of August 31st. If you're one of the happy individuals to have received their code (I know I am!), then I'm sure you're just as happy as me to get home as soon as possible and get a piece of that sweet, sweet multiplayer pie.
But if you're playing on the Xbox One, you might want to make sure that you're fully eligible for access to the multiplayer. As reported by Eurogamer, and highlighted on the official Battlefield Twitter account, only players with a valid Xbox Live Gold membership will be able to experience the multiplayer madness.
This is a strange move to see from Battlefield's camp. Titanfall - another member of EA's roster - allowed beta participants to throw down with other players with only the free Silver membership. In contrast, anyone playing on Playstation 4 will not be required to have an active subscription to PS Plus to be able to access the multiplayer.
As previously reported, the open beta for Battlefield 1 will take place on the all-new Sinai Desert map, and will feature many highly-anticipated new features that the new World War I setting allows. Horse cavalry, new elite soldier types that include flamethrowers and Iron Man-esque suits of armor. Oh, and did we mention there's a goddamn tank-train?
If you've previously signed up to the Battlefield Insider newsletter, you likely have a free early access code for your chosen console, just sat in your inbox. Not a part of the Battlefield Insider early access community? Not to worry - you only have a matter of hours before the Battlefield 1 Open Beta is available for download on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and via Origin for the PC.
