With the imminent release of DICE's Battlefield 1, a recent post by a  Battlefield community manager has detailed the pricing for their Rent a Server Program in addition to more information on what you can do with a rented server.

In a blog post on the official Battlefield forums, community manager Braddock512 shines some light on the program:

This will let you set up your own private and public Battlefield 1 servers, with control of different gameplay options to map rotations. Thanks to these customization options, you’ll be able to create games that suit the play style for you and your friends.
If you're looking to rent a server so you and your friends can play customized games without building a server in your home, this seems to be the best way to go. Unlike the servers EA used in the past, the rental servers for Battlefield 1 will be provided by EA directly. This allows EA to more efficiently assure the quality of the servers you want to rent.
First off, we will be able to secure the quality of the actual hardware. Since the servers come from the same provider, it will give everyone the same uniform experience. Furthermore, if you have questions or need help, you will be able to reach out to EA Support directly instead of third party support.
Once you rent a server, you'll be able to customize your experience on several fronts. You'll be able to set a server name, choose a custom map rotation with customized settings, as well as choose a game mode. Braddock goes on to note that they might restrict the number of game modes available at launch, with the developer opting to release more content as they gather feedback from the players. Other features like ticket count, bullet damage, different game modes and weapons and a wider map pool will also make it to the RSP.

The page also details the pricing for the rental servers, which are more expensive on the PC than they are on consoles:

PC

  • 1 day: $2.99
  • 7 days: $11.99
  • 30 days: $42.99
  • 90 days: $99.99
  • 180 days: $149.99
PlayStation 4 / Xbox One
  • 1 day: $1.99
  • 7 days: $7.99
  • 30 days: $26.99
  • 90 days: $64.99

Battlefield 1 is scheduled to release on October 21 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. It is already available to those who have pre-ordered it, and you can get it 20% off on Green Man Gaming (Affiliate link).

We have reached out to EA for information on the reason for the price difference on PC and console and will update if we learn more.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
