If you think the battle royale craze has run out of gas, well... you're wrong. Battle Royale Tycoon is coming to Steam this December according to a press release from the developers.

Battle Royale Tycoon is exactly what it says on the tin: it mixes up the battle royale and tycoon genres. The core element of the game is building battle royale arenas for your guests to enjoy themselves in as if they're in a theme park. Design all of the places for them to shoot the everloving heck out of one another. You can then set the rules - either battle royale, team deathmatch, or capture the flag.

Guests will enter the arena and get to having fun. You'll get feedback from your customers (well, the surviving ones, anyway) about how to improve things. In the meantime, you'll have to clean up all the bullet casings and gore while also providing other amenities like restrooms and shops.

One particular bullet point on the Steam Store page description of Battle Royale Tycoon is a little strange:

Repair your items and keep them in good condition so no one gets hurt.
I would think that people getting hurt is the entire point of this kind of combat. I suppose the game might be inferring that you're setting up some kind of paintball park, but whether or not people are actually dying is currently unclear at this point.

Aside from that bit of mild confusion, it does seem like an interesting idea. The developer had previously made Ninja Tycoon, a game we covered for our Month of Coverage Club. They just might be onto something interesting here.

If Battle Royale Tycoon sounds like the kind of game you'd like to play, you'll be able to pick up a copy for yourself on Steam on December 10, 2018. Until then, you can add the game to your wishlist by visiting the game's Steam Store page. Battle Royale Tycoon comes to Steam Early Access on December 10, 2018.

What do you think of Battle Royale Tycoon? Do you think mixing battle royale and tycoon mechanics can make for a fun game? Let us know in the comments below!
