On Friday, developer Pathos Interactive and publisher 2tainment announced that RTS Bannermen beta will launch soon on Steam, running from February 8 to February 10.
Bannermen is a low-fantasy RTS that features a full "story-driven" campaign, with players playing as Lord Berrian, who is trying to find and rally his bannermen in order to return his kingdom to its former glory. It also offers online multiplayer with matchmaking and ladders.
The beta will offer both singleplayer and multiplayer modes for testing. Online multiplayer, with ranked and unranked matchmaking, custom online skirmishes, a "sneak peek" of the singleplayer campaign, and a tutorial will be available.
"We are super-excited about this beta, and looking forward to test all the gamemodes with our community", Accel Sjöström says, co-founder of Pathos Interactive. For anyone looking to test the beta, don't wait. The developers are accepting signups now, so be sure to sign up on the official website.
Bannermen will be released on PC via Steam on February 21st.
Quick TakeAs someone who grew up playing RTS games, I hope Bannermen is good. It's sad that a remake of Warcraft III is probably my most anticipated game in nearly a decade. The truth is, there has been such a dearth of base-building RTS titles that it's literally all we have. Thankfully, there are indie titles like this one picking up the slack. It's nice that I can test it out beforehand and see if it's for me. While the gameplay and graphics look a little rough, there isn't much that can be done, especially when one considers that Bannermen's 'beta' is less than two weeks before its launch. At this point, it seems more like a demo than anything else. Hopefully, the developers will take any useful feedback into consideration.
