Bandai Namco has applied for a trademark for PAC-MAN Maker in Europe as reported by Gematsu.

The trademark application was filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, the organization responsible for managing trademarks within the EU. The application for PAC-MAN Maker was filed yesterday by Bandai Namco through a UK-based law firm. The application itself doesn't reveal much in the way of details. The application falls under Nice Classes (originally created by the 1957 Nice Agreement) 9 & 41 which can include video-game related content. Nice classes tend to cover a wide variety of related subjects, although it is most likely that the video-game related descriptions will apply considering the name of the trademark.

We don't yet know what the game will be about or what platforms Bandai Namco are aiming to launch the eventual product on. We can speculate a good bit based on the name, of course - games such as Super Mario Maker are part of a somewhat more recent trend where companies trot out classic IPs with a sort of level editor environment. Players can create their own levels and challenges with the tools provided to them, and a game like PAC-MAN could potentially support this style of game. As for the platforms, Bandai Namco has released titles for PC, consoles, and mobile alike in their history as a company.

Aside from the PAC-MAN Maker trademark, Bandai Namco also filed trademarks for Storm Wings and Code Vein. Details on what Storm Wings could be are light (for example, it is the name of a Space Marine chapter in Warhammer 40,000), but we definitely know something about Code Vein: it's an upcoming action RPG set to release in 2018.

What do you think Bandai Namco is planning to make under the title of PAC-MAN Maker? Do you think a "maker" style game (similar to Super Mario Maker) could work with the relatively simple gameplay of the classic titles of the series? Let us know in the comments below!
