Atari Reveals Three New Recharged Titles in Asteroids, Black Widow, Breakout

With the release of Centipede: Recharged today, Atari has announced that Asteroids, Black Widow, and Breakout are all receiving the same Recharged treatment. They will all be released on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC for Steam and Epic Games Store, and Atari VCS, with all three titles releasing at the same price as Centipede Recharged: $9.99.

Black Widow: Recharged will be releasing on October 28, 2021, with Asteroids: Recharged and Breakout: Recharged releasing later this year in Q4 2021.

“Our goal with the Recharged series is to both honor these arcade classics and make them feel fresh and modern,” said Wade Rosen, CEO, Atari. “We want to revisit the pick-up-and-play, high-intensity arcade action that everyone loves, but with fresh surprises.”

As you can see in the linked trailer, Black Widow: Recharged is a modern-day refresh of the high-intensity twin-stick action title that was originally released in 1982. You must defend the nest with a friend in couch co-op mode or solo with online leaderboards. There are also new powerups added that will hopefully introduce another level of depth and strategy to the original gameplay.

If you are interested enough to own an Atari VCS, like Centipede: Recharged you'll have access to the system's Atari Wireless Classic Joystick and exclusive in-game challenges.

If you like the sick beats from the trailer, you can check out the artist's Bandcamp page and buy the Atari Recharged: Original Video Game Soundtrack for a cool $9.

If you've read this article and want to indulge in some more Atari nostalgia, perhaps check out Pong Quest or the just-released Centipede: Recharged? Otherwise, stay tuned to TechRaptor as more Recharged titles released during the rest of this year.

What do you think of this announcement? Are there any Atari titles you want Recharged? Let us know in the comments!

A very unflattering picture of my tired face.
