Assassin's Creed Valhalla Director Ashraf Ismail has made the decision to step down from his role for this upcoming game in a long-running franchise.

"I am stepping down from my beloved project to properly deal with the personal issues in my life," Ismail stated on Twitter. The lives of my family and my own are shattered. I am deeply sorry to everyone hurt in this."

"There are hundreds of talented, passionate people striving to build an experience for you that do not deserve to be associated with this," he continued. "I wish them all the best."

Why did Assassin's Creed Valhalla Director Ashraf Ismail Step Down?

Ashraf Ismail's message is certainly disappointing to fans of the Assassin's Creed franchise, but it's awfully vague as to why he's stepping down. More details were revealed via a submission on /r/Games: Ashraf Ismail has been accused of infidelity and cheating on his wife with multiple women.

"This person is married," began one of the accusations on Twitter "When he starts a relationship with you, know he's married. This is why he doesn't want to talk on the phone or facetime or have things sent to his home. His marriage has been confirmed by 3 people. I was with him for a year on and off before finding out."

It's unclear if Assassin's Creed Valhalla Director Ashraf Ismail is simply stepping down from his job or if he's leaving Ubisoft entirely. His past work on the franchise includes serving as director for Assassin's Creed IV: Black FlagAssassin's Creed Origins, and the ancient Egypt Discovery Tour.

Either way, someone is going to have to replace him at the helm of this upcoming Assasin's Creed entry. No replacement has been named as of yet. Presuming that Ismail's departure doesn't cause any delays, you can expect to play Assassin's Creed Valhalla when it launches sometime in Holiday 2020.
