Asphalt 9: Legends marks the ninth main installment in the Asphalt series, and the first title to release on the Nintendo Switch. Established mobile developer and publisher behind the world’s most downloaded racing franchise, Gameloft, revealed the game amassed over 4 million downloads on Nintendo's handheld console. Not only that, the studio revealed Asphalt 9: Legends' biggest update to date since its original 2018 release.
This achievement didn't come as a pure surprise, as the title had slotted fourth in Nintendo America's top games of 2019 list, just five months after its debut on the Nintendo Switch.
The update offers "players the Caribbean as a brand new exotic location to discover, 14 new supercars including the iconic McLaren Senna and Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, deep customization options for selected cars, and an improved Multiplayer Mode." Although there isn't much specific information on how exactly will Gameloft improve the title's multiplayer experience, but educated guesses would be a more stable connection, new modes, and more events for players to compete in. Asphalt 9: Legends already hosts a 60 licensed super and hyper cars roster, such as the Bugatti Chiron, the McLaren P1 and the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio, and the upcoming update adds 14 more.
The Caribbean will be just one of several exotic racing locations the game hosts, adding to the likes of Cairo, the Himalayas, and Osaka. The update is currently available for download, promised mobile and PC players they will receive more additions going forward to bring new features, cars, and tracks to the game.
Gameloft are doing an amazing job at expanding Asphalt 9: Legends cars roster and features so far since its release, and they surely know how to celebrate 4 million downloads. Make sure to let us know which car is your go-to in Asphalt 9: Legends, and which one are you most looking forward to see.
