Have you played Arma 3? Do you remember thinking "this realistic military sim could really use more aliens"? If so, Bohemia Interactive is ready to answer your prayers. Arma 3 Contact is a spin-off expansion which brings an alien-themed campaign to the game. It'll launch in July.
Bohemia describes Arma 3 Contact as an expansion revolving around "the most important discovery in the history of mankind". The single-player campaign is titled "First Contact" and will cast players as a NATO drone operator named Aiden Rudwell. Aiden is deployed to Eastern Europe as part of a military training exercise. Said exercise is disrupted by a huge alien vessel entering Earth's atmosphere. Players must determine the aliens' intentions while dealing with human conflict amid the tension and chaos. Bohemia says players can expect conventional infantry engagements in First Contact, but that a lot of the campaign will focus on "non-shooting gameplay". You'll be able to operate a mini UGV sampling laser and CBRN defense equipment to study alien anomalies. There's also the Spectrum Device, which - aptly enough - will allow you to control the electromagnetic spectrum. You can use these tools for navigation, intelligence gathering, and deception, depending on what the situation calls for.
Arma 3 Contact isn't just bringing a new campaign. The expansion will also add Livonia, a huge new 163-square-kilometer terrain, to the sandbox map. Livonia is a Polish-speaking territory and brings two new factions with it: the Livonian Defense Force and the Russian Spetsnaz. Both factions have their own fatigues and equipment. Arma 3 Contact will also add 5 new weapons, 2 new vehicles, extra gear, and plenty more.
The latest Arma 3 expansion will launch on July 25th for PC via Steam. You can wishlist the game right now.
