Arkane Lyon Studio Director Leaving After 16 Years of Leadership

Published: October 6, 2021 1:31 PM

Arkane Lyon Studio Director Romuald Capron is leaving the company after nearly 17 years, less than a month after the company launched its new first-person shooter Deathloop.

Deathloop was first revealed a little more than two years ago at Bethesda's E3 2019 presentation. It had a somewhat shaky development -- something that's not particularly unusual for most game developers over the last year -- and several delays, the most recent of which was back in April of this year.

Since then, Arkane has shored up some of the problems with post-launch fixes and it continues its work on the game. One of the key players in this game development studio, however, won't be coming along for the rest of the journey: Arkane Lyon Studio Director Romuald Capron has announced that he's leaving the company.

The announcement of Romuald Capron's departure as Arkane Lyon Studio Director was made yesterday on his LinkedIn page as reported by French gaming website XboxSquad.

"Last week was very special for me as these were my last days at Arkane and Zenimax as Studio Director," read the announcement on Capron's LinkedIn page.

"After more than 16 years of helping Arkane Studios Lyon to grow and become the world-class AAA studio it is today, this was a very hard decision to make. But I was feeling the need to try something new and also have a bit more time for me and my family."

Capron goes on to say that he's keen to continue his work in the industry, teasing that he may have something new in the works. It's not yet clear who will replace Capron in his roles as Studio Director and Chief Operating Officer.

For now, Capron's legacy at Arkane Lyon will live on through his contributions to Deathloop and the Dishonored franchise. You can buy Arkane's latest game Deathloop for PC and consoles right now starting at $59.99 or your regional equivalent.
