The developers at Embark Studios have announced an ARC Raiders Delay, meaning that the release date has been pushed back into 2023, but did not announce a set-in-stone release date as of yet.
This year has been chockfull of video game delays, such as the delay of another free-to-play shooter Project Vanguard, and it shows no sign of slowing down soon. ARC Raiders is a free-to-play cooperative third-person shooter that was set to release sometime this year, but the developers have announced via Twitter that the game will not be released until sometime in 2023. They state that this is a very ambitious game for them and that they need more time to expand the gameplay experience and make sure that all of the bells and whistles are fine-tuned prior to its release.
The developers make sure to mention that they are encouraged by the amount of support and excitement that fans have shown for their game, and they will be releasing more details as they are testing the game extensively with players.
From what we have seen so far, the game showcases some pretty intense battles. The game takes place in a setting where the ARC is threatening the very land in which the raiders live. The ARC is a mechanized threat that has descended on the raider's home planet from space and leaves nothing but death and destruction in their path. You begin as one of the raiders, which is a group of resistance fighters, where your end goal is to destroy the increasing threat of ARC as they wreak havoc across the land in an attempt to take over the world completely. The idea behind the game is to never travel alone, as ARC is more powerful than you can ever imagine. As the developers state on Steam,
"When ARC is around, lone wolves never make it very far."
A lot of video games get delayed in order to polish and enhance the gameplay to make sure that the players will be happy and satisfied with the end product, such as the developers at Daedalic Entertainment announced with the highly-anticipated release of Lord of the Rings: Gollum. While delays in releases may seem like a bad thing, they can be a very positive turn of events, and allow the games to reach their full potential prior to being released. While we may be disappointed we can't play the game sooner, in the end, it is for the greater good and will allow more time for ARC Raiders to be the best game it can possibly be.
