An Apple Arcade yearly subscription has popped up with relatively little fanfare, giving iOS gamers the opportunity to save a bit over 16.5% by purchasing 12 months in advance.

If you're unfamiliar with Apple Arcade, it's a pretty simple idea: for the low price of $4.99 a month, you get access to over 100 games for iOS, Apple TV, and/or MacOS at no additional cost. And when Apple says "no additional cost", they mean it for once — each and every one of the games in the program are completely free of microtransactions, and advertisements.

Now, The Verge reports that an Apple Arcade yearly subscription has popped up in the app, seemingly out of nowhere and with no major announcement. First spotted by iFun.de, the annual subscription offers the same service at discounted prices depending on the region:

  • United States: $49.99 per year
  • United Kingdom: £49.99 per year
  • Europe: €49.99 per year
  • Canada: $59.99 per year

This annual pricing effectively gives you two months for free if you purchase a year, totaling up to slightly over 16.5% cheaper than if you paid month-to-month. As the Verge notes, Apple offers up similar discounts for their Music and TV Plus services, so offering up such a discount for Apple Arcade is entirely in line with their M.O.

The list of what you get with the Apply Arcade yearly subscription is pretty straightforward:

  • A 16.5% discount off of the $4.99/month price
  • The ability to share with up to 6 people via Apple Family Sharing
