A new Apex Legends update has arrived! This series of changes includes a Wattson buff, Valkyrie changes, and the introduction of an Arena Leaver Penalty to bring things in line with other game modes.
Apex Legends is constantly changing (as live service games tend to do), whether it's through balance changes, new additions, or responses to problems in the community. The latest patch for the game makes a number of small balance changes, fixes a few updates, and — perhaps most importantly — finally penalizes leaves in Arena games.
What's New in the May 24th Apex Legends Update?
The major addition in the May 24 Apex Legends update is the introduction of an Arena leaver penalty that will work much in the same way as the abandon penalty for Ranked BR games. Players will only get hit with the penalty if they were in a full squad when they left or if they were partied with someone else who left; a warning will be activated to advise you of the penalty.
Some Valkyrie changes have also arrived in this patch. A short input delay has been added after the activation of her Ult to prevent players from accidentally canceling it right after using it. A couple of exploits have been fixed, and she's expected to be reenabled in the firing range sometime later this evening. That's not the only change to Legends! A Wattson buff is also on the way: Respawn has restored the slow effect on Wattson's fences.
As always, these are just the more interesting items in this update; you can read about the full May 24 Apex Legends update on Reddit (via Twitter). If you'd like to jump into the Battle Royale action for yourself, you can play Apex Legends for free on PC and consoles via its official website.
