A few details about the Apex Legends Season 3 Battle Pass have been revealed along with the first few hints of the Apex Legends Crypto character. These first few bits of new information about what's coming are sure to give gamers a reason to keep playing. You won't have to wait too long to play, either — the Season 3 release date is October 1, 2019.
The page for Season 3 is now up and it's given us some light details about what we can expect to see. Before we go any further, let's look at the Apex Legends Crypto "Forever Family" trailer which will help give us a bit of background about the newest dude to join the fight:
Apex Legends Crypto Details
Crypto is going to be a Legend that uses "specialized surveillance drones" in combat. How exactly these are going to work hasn't yet been detailed. Presumably, the drone(s) will allow him to scout out an area without having to risk being shot.
This particular Legend would probably work best as a sniper, whether in Trios or Solos. Legends have multiple abilities and we can safely assume that one of them is going to be some kind of drone; what the others are is a bit of mystery for now.
Apex Legends Season 3 Battle Pass and Ranked Series 2
While mum's the word on Crypto, details about Ranked Series 2 have begun to pile up on the game's official subreddit. We also learned a little bit about the Apex Legends Season 3 Battle Pass.
Let's start with the Season 3 Battle Pass. More than 100 exclusive items are going to be made available through this seasonal purchase, up to and including Legendary Skins and Apex Packs. We figured we be getting something like that anyway and we'll have to wait to hear more details for now.
Ranked Series 2, however, has been elaborated on in much more detail. You can read the full post for all the details, but here are the highlights:
- The scoring system will mostly be the same, although there will be some improvements.
- Ditto on ranked matchmaking.
- A "soft reset" of your rank will be coming, but there will also be cosmetic rewards for ranked play. Players will drop 1½ tiers. For example, players who were Platinum IV last season will begin this one at Silver II.
We also got some nice stats about the distribution of players who have put at least 5 hours into the ranked series:
- 5.1% Bronze
- 40.0% Silver
- 35.7% Gold
- 16.8% Platinum
- 2.1% Diamond
- 0.2% Apex Predator
Apex Legends Season 3 Charge Rifle
The final item of note is the Charge Rifle, a brand new gun that's going to be coming into the game. We know it's a directed energy weapon, but further official details are sparse.
Unofficially, however, we can be pretty sure that it's going to be a care package drop.
That's all we have for now in terms of details about the upcoming third season of this battle royale! More information is sure to be released in the coming days (officially or otherwise).
