Simian snaring simulator Ape Escape 2, 2003's best game about capturing hyperintelligent monkeys, might soon be making an appearance on the PlayStation 4. Leaked information about trophies relating to the title has been revealed on Exophase. The same source has seen similar early reveals for other titles as well, so there is a good chance that the information is valid. Furthermore, Ape Escape 3 had its paperwork re-filed with the ESRB last December, indicating that it might also be receiving a re-release. It's uncertain when these games will be making their second appearances, but the existence of these trophies is evidence that some wheels are in motion already.

The Ape Escape series, (Saru Get You in Japan) is a classic Playstation favorite, having spawned numerous iterations ever since the first installment in 1999. Throughout the games, the player needs to track, trick, and trap mischievous monkeys and stop them from conquering the earth, destroying history, and many other things one wouldn't normally expect monkeys to get into doing. Main protagonist Spike (though not his associates from the sequels) even made an appearance in Playstation All-Stars, Sony's answer to Super Smash Brothers.

Ultimately, more games ended up coming out on the PSP than on home consoles, and many were spin-offs or party games. But, between getting referenced as far and wide as in Ratchet and Clank and Metal Gear Solid 3, the series has earned a rightful place in the annals of gaming history as a fun, zany platforming title.

Sony has already released multiple Playstation 2 titles on the PS4 online store, a list of which can be found here, including games planned for future re-release such as Legaia 2, which was re-rated by PEGI for PlayStation 4.
