Nintendo has just announced that their will be a Thanksgiving Update and a Christmas update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The free update will come on November 19, where players will be able to play through "holiday events and enhancements", which gives players time to connect on special occasions such as Turkey Day on November 26 and Toy Day on December 24. Both events will give players the opportunity to show off their island to visitors and use new Reactions and hairstyles. There is also a new upgrade option that will give players an expanded in-game home item storage, and save data transfer capabilities.

“We’d like to invite everyone to experience the holidays together with family and friends in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, along with your island residents bringing their unique seasonal cheer,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We’re eager for everyone to discover all the changes arriving to your islands during this holiday season.”

So, what's the schedule?

I'm glad you asked! Here it is:

  • Turkey Day, which will take place play on November 26, will feature the first-class chef Franklin who will host a gathering in the plaza. Players will help Franklin gather ingredients to go in the dishes that will be on display in the plaza. You might receive a gift from Franklin as a reward for your efforts.
  • Toy Day will take place from December 1 to December 25, and players will be able to purchase toys from Nook's Cranny and find holiday-themed clothing at the Able Sisters shop. When it's Toy Day on December 24, Jingle will pay a visit to spread holiday cheer. Players will find holiday-themed decorations in decorated trees. Just shake them and ornaments and holiday furniture recipes may drop.
  • The New Year's Eve event takes place from December 26 to December 31, with several festive items to celebrate New Year's Eve being made available. There will be a countdown starting from 7 PM on December 31 where you can meet in-game and bring in the new year with friends, family, and your island residents.
