Aloft is an upcoming co-op survival game that may have flown under your radar; until today. With a whopping 43k wishlists on Steam, this could be one of the bigger indie games to hit the market later next year.
Any good survival game has a few key features that keep it interesting, fun, and engaging. Of course, building is one of them, but Aloft takes things to the skies. Players will build their own bases and even sails atop their floating islands, and float wherever the wind takes them. Think Raft, but instead of battling sharks eating your boat, you are dealing with harsh winds, maintaining bridges from one island to another, and gliding through the clouds with the birds.
Another refreshing take the game has is on survival methods. Players will need to collect clean water from clouds that pass by in order to remain hydrated, use ziplines to travel from one island to another to find food and necessities, and even raise animals to keep the flow of food going strong. On top of that, there is also a looming threat to keep at bay.
Dangerous fungi have corrupted the floating archipelago, and it is up to you to not only survive, but keep your home free of this corruption. The infection is easily spotted, as large colorful mushrooms will be present wherever the corruption has spread, and there are certain treatments for each type of fungus you will come across. Cleansing the lands of this blight will not only save the environment, but it will unlock new companions, animals, crops, and resources for players to utilize.
Though there is no set release date for Aloft as of yet, we know thatthe game will release sometime in 2024. There is also a demo available to play right now to get a feel for what's to come, which can be found on Steam.
