Alan Wake feverishly typing on a typewriter in Alan Wake 2

During today's PlayStation Showcase, we got a new look at the positively creepy-looking Alan Wake 2, which also now has a release date. The long-awaited horror sequel is landing on October 17th and will launch for PS5, as well as Xbox Series X|S and PC.

In the trailer, we see Alan Wake typing feverishly on a typewriter and looking for all the world like a slightly older and more terrified John Wick. As he types, we also see FBI agents investigating the murder of Robert Nightingale, an agent who figured heavily into the first game. The trailer makes sinister reference to being trapped in a horror story, which Alan Wake will need to escape if he's to uncover the truth behind what's happening to him.

It looks as though you'll be able to play as other characters besides Alan; in fact, you'll take on the role of Saga Anderson, as well as Wake himself. The few glimpses we get of gameplay look exciting, too, with plenty of survival horror action on offer. The trailer concludes with one of the agents asking a disheveled-looking Alan what his name is, after which the game's title flashes up.

Alan Wake 2 is set for release on October 17th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Given how successful the remaster of the first game was, we're looking forward to getting our hands on this one as well. Stay tuned to TechRaptor for more info on Alan Wake 2 as we get closer to release, and don't forget to check out all the other big PlayStation Showcase announcements from today's presentation right here.
