Today the developers at Madmind Studio launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund its upcoming Agony sequel Agony: Lords of Hell.
The game departs from the genre of the original Agony and its spin-off Succubus and delves into the hellish warfare of real-time strategy.
Nimrod, who is now ruling hell after the events of Agony, returns with his partner, the succubus Vydija, as they are tasked with reasserting their power on the underworld. There are different factions involved in this unholy war, each coming with its unique playstyle.
According to the developers, the game is inspired by Bullfrog's classic Populous series, tasking players with managing and defending their cities while leading troops in battle and conquering territories. Here are the main features you can expect:
- Construction of new buildings
- Gaining and arming new followers
- Strengthening and developing your cities from the collected resources
- Spreading the cult of your character among the conquered lands
- Ruling over people and powerful demons
- Conquering new territories and invading cities
- Invoking divine spells
- Fighting the mighty Lords of Hell
The Kickstarter campaign asks backers to provide €66,666 (I see what you did there, Madmind). The initial phase of development of the game is already complete, but the campaign will help the developers fully realize their vision.
The campaign hints at the possibility of stretch goals, but they have not been announced yet. Incidentally, the original Agony was also funded via Kickstarter. Backers pledged CA$ 182,642 for it, nearly thrice the original goal set at CA$ 66,666. Yes. Madmind really likes this number, I wonder why.
