Age of Wonders 4 sales managed to reach 250,000 in just four days, according to new data revealed by publisher Paradox Interactive. This figure makes the fourth major installment in the Age of Wonders series the fastest-selling across its franchise, which should be encouraging if you love these games.
In a press release, Paradox says that between May 2nd, when Age of Wonders 4 launched, and May 6th, the game sold 250,000 copies across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. These sales take into account both pre-orders and post-launch sales and also incorporate both the standard and premium editions of Age of Wonders 4.
A followup tweet by Paradox also quotes SteamDB data showing that Age of Wonders 4 was the best-selling game on Steam between May 2nd and May 9th. The game managed to beat out competitors like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and the Steam Deck (for which sales are tracked via Steam).
Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester described creating Age of Wonders 4 alongside Triumph Studios as "a very rewarding experience", calling the game "a wonderful testament" to how the two studios' design philosophies intertwine. Triumph co-founder Lennart Sas says the reception from players and the community at large has been "incredible" and reaffirms that Age of Wonders 4 will receive regular support in the form of new content and updates.
You can pick up Age of Wonders 4 right now on PC via Steam, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game's first major expansion, Dragon Dawn, is set to launch sometime in summer, and it'll also be included as part of the Season Pass and the premium edition. Our very own Giuseppe was impressed with the game; in his review, he drew attention to Age of Wonders 4's "fetching visuals" and "deep strategic gameplay", calling it an "easy recommendation" for fans of empire-building games.
